Reciprocity

Reciprocity. How contrived...but comforting...?

Positive reciprocity
  1. Mar 2011/Aug 2013: Win gift card to Tartes -> Give gift cards to lab friends
  2. May/Jun 2013: Return someone's iPhone -> Win an iPad mini
  3. Apr/Aug 2013: Buy a homeless person a sandwich wrap -> Get free salad and an extra bunch of kale at the farmer's market
  4. Jun 2013: Obtain bad food (ramen...really...) from the Korean restaurant on Monday -> Obtain free Indian food on Saturday
  5. Jun 2013: Get locked out -> but in the process get free Indian food
  6. Jul/Aug 2013: Give a guy-going-to-college playing saxophone some change -> Get token discounts for Toronto Metro and Citipass
  7. Aug 2013: Someone drives my stuff back to home so I don't have to lug it to Toronto -> [Pending]
  8. Aug 2013: Give some kids playing music some change -> [Pending]
  9. Aug 2013: C gives me some brisket pork but doesn't get to try any. I give her some cinnamon bun so I don't end up with any (except a small chunk)
  10. Dec 2013: Donate crayons/pencils -> Get soda and sandwich sample
  11. Dec 2013: Give (homeless?) person pastries -> [Pending]
  12. Jan 2014: ??? -> 1.5 snow days to study for math240
  13. CIS455 class cancelled -> More time
  14. 2013/14:  [pending] -> Get paint for Eco Reps
  15. Mar 2014: Give away salad bowls -> [pending]

Negative reciprocity
  1. There are many?
  2. Dec 2013: consider CDD -> throw up on bus

Resume Advice from HR

  1. Cut down to 1 page
  2. In the descriptions, say how significant your contribution was. E.g. "Increased sales 200%" or something. Don't just say "Made this for this...". Show SIGNIFICANCE.
  3. If it's not related to the job, don't include it
  4. Don't include references
  5. ...Darn it, I've forgotten all that advice they gave us.
